Women’s Head of the River Race

For the first time since 2023, the club was back racing on the Thames at the Women’s Head of the River Race. Going into the event with less race practice than usual due to event cancellations, the two eights were excited to see how they would perform and they did not disappoint!

The first eight finished 73rd, our highest ever placing putting us 3rd in the Medium Provincial Club category and 1st in the Challenge Medium Provincial Club category. The second eight finished 145th, putting the crew 7th in the Medium Provincial Club category.

To have a crew in the top 75 and another in the top 150 is testament to the hard work the two crews had put in throughout the winter and showed that Leeds had maintained it’s place as the dominant women’s rowing programme in the region.

A huge thanks to the coaches who supported the programme throughout the head season, to Thames Rowing Club for their kind hosting and to Ciaran for towing.
