Sponsor Leeds Rowing Club
Leeds Rowing Club is the only community rowing club in Leeds. In our short history we have grown from nothing to one of the largest and most successful rowing clubs in Yorkshire. As a club our presence is seen at races across Yorkshire and the country and our members compete at the highest levels of the sport with club members racing at the top domestic events including Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta, but also at an international level with club members competing for England, and also representing Great Britain at European and World Championships as well as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We need your support
As a club we want to make rowing as popular and accessible for all, but that requires support from the community and from business to make that a reality. At Leeds Rowing Club we combine both performance and participation, our Junior Rowing Academy programme recruits from some of the most deprived schools and communities in Leeds, where we find most children are on free school meals and English is a second language. The Performance Development Academy takes people from any background and aims to transform them into the next generation of Olympic champions.
But this does not come cheap, while we keep the costs of membership at one of the lowest prices in Yorkshire, the costs of equipment, racing fees and kit do not come cheap and it soon adds up.
How you can help
As a club we rely solely on club membership subscriptions, grants, fundraising and donations. The cost of equipment in rowing is not cheap, but will last for decades meaning generations of rowers get to learn, train, compete and win in the equipment we purchase.
How you can help is through sponsorship - be it sponsorship of kit or a company donation, through benefit in kind support such as free use of vehicles for towing or purchasing items such as a gazebo for when we go to events, or by providing us with support through networks - putting us in touch with people or organisations you know who can help us to find more funding.
An example of this is our support from Cross Keys Garage Morley. Cross Keys Garage have supported Leeds Rowing Club for three years by providing free hire and use of their Isuzu D Max 4x4’s, saving the club thousands of pounds on costs of hire vehicles. This small act of support has enabled the club to travel and compete nationally at events across the UK.
