British Rowing Awards Announcement

2023 was not quite finished with good news for the club. We had news from British Rowing that we had two nominations in the annual British Rowing Awards.

First off a huge congratulations to Matt Bertola, on being awarded the Regional Volunteer of the Year for the Yorkshire Region. Matt is an unsung hero in the club who quietly fixes boats, sorts out all matter of on-site maintenance and grounds keeping and is an all-round great guy who helps with everything. Without his presence, the boathouse wouldn’t get the repairs it needs!

Matt now goes onto the national award, where he is against other regional winners for the national Volunteer of the Year prize.

Secondly, a well-deserved congratulations to our Henley Women’s Regatta Club Eight, for being on the shortlist for the British Rowing Awards Club Crew of the Year Category. While the nomination hasn’t been released, the hardwork, sacrifice and dedication members put into making the boat happen has been noted.

The eight is now up against four other crews for the Club Crew of the Year Award. All of the award winners will be announced in late January 2024.
